Wounded deer tracking

Hit it. Lost the blood. Call us.

We track wounded deer with leashed tracking dogs and thermal drones, day or night. Most recoveries start with a call from a hunter standing at the last drop of blood. Stay there, and we will walk you through what to do until we arrive.

How a recovery works

Four steps from the call to the deer

The first hour decides how well the trail holds. These steps are what we ask every hunter to do.

  1. Call us

Tell us where you hit it, what you saw, and what the blood looks like. We answer any hour during the season.

  2. Mark last blood

Tie flagging tape at the last sign you found. Back out the way you came and stay off the line.

  3. We arrive

A handler meets you at the marker with a leashed tracking dog, a thermal drone, or both. We confirm landowner permission before we cross a fence.

  4. Recover and tag

We work the line until the deer is found. You tag it and field dress it, or we can help with the haul out.

Before you call

Give the deer time. Then call early.

Pushing a hurt deer too soon often sends it farther. These are common waiting times by hit. If you are unsure where you hit it, call and we will help you decide.

Call us first

General guidance only. Weather, rain and temperature change the plan, so ask before you wait.

  • Stop walking the trail. Boots scatter blood and scent the dog needs.
  • Flag the last blood. Mark it, then note the time and the direction the deer ran.
  • Keep the arrow or bolt. It tells us a lot about the hit.
  • Check the weather. Rain washes a trail fast. If it is coming, call right away.
  • Follow your local rules. Tracking and tagging laws differ by state and county.
